Fisher Hill
Fisher Hill is Olmsted-laid streets of large 1890s and early 1900s houses, many with their original service wings still legible in the plan. Kitchens are generous but several steps up from the street, and most have been refitted with professional cooking equipment.

How a call runs
Three stages, and you hear the price at the third
-
One
Say what it is doing
The model number off the plate behind the kick panel or inside the door, plus the symptom in your own words. Most faults are half-diagnosed before anyone leaves.
-
Two
Readings in your kitchen
Gas pressure at the manifold, spark and flame sense burner by burner, element and sensor resistance, cavity temperature across a full preheat, blower current on a hood.
-
Three
A figure before it opens
Parts and labour as one number, with the alternative if there is one. If the honest answer is that it is not worth repairing, you will be told that instead.

Our island hood made a low hum and moved almost no air, so steam drifted along the ceiling instead. The run capacitor had dried out and a motor mount had perished. Both replaced and the difference is obvious.

The door would not sit flush and heat poured out of the top corner, enough to feel from across the room. One hinge spring had stretched and the seal was flattened right along the front edge. Both changed, and the temperature now holds where I set it.

Big old house with the kitchen several steps up from the street, which nobody enjoys carrying tools into. The range lost its whole left side after a storm surge: a blown fuse and a scorched terminal block behind the panel. Repaired properly rather than patched over.
